Austin is home to numerous public golf courses, private golf clubs and golf resorts.  Enthusiasts are spoiled for choice in top-quality courses, some coming close to championship-pedigree quality. Here is a look at five that you are sure to appreciate.

Austin Country Club

Established in 1984, this Pete Dye design boasts a challenging layout, picturesque landscape of cliffs and canyons, and well-maintained greens.  In 2016 and 2017, the private golf club hosted the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play, one of the four annual WGCs.  Austin Country Club (pictured above) is a top choice for corporate and family events with its large conference rooms, open bar, tennis courts and swimming pool beckoning those seeking a few hours of fun and relaxation.

River Place Country Club

This private golf club offers public play for a limited time on most afternoons. The fairways are tight, testing your mettle, and the tall grass and cliffs are hiding many a ball from high-handicap players! The 13-hole course with 180 yards of pristine green and scenic wooded landscape deliver challenge after challenge and beautiful views.  Dining at the club's restaurant is always Image titlememorable courtesy of its amazing landscape views.

Wolfdancer Golf Club

The daily-fee club ranks among the best in Texas with 1,100 acres of rolling greens, challenging holes and scenic views enhancing the golfing experience. The greens are extremely fast and well-maintained, flanked by wildflowers and a beautiful waterfall. Prices maybe on the steeper side, but they're justified given the top quality of the course and the luxury amenities at the club.   Just a short drive past the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Fazio Canyons Golf Course at Omni Barton Creek Resort

The Canyons is a 7,153 yard, par-72 public golf course designed by renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio. The picturesque views of hills, trees and mansions offer an upscale, almost European feel.  But once you get down to playing, the natural elements - creeks, canyons and rocks – remind you that you're in Texas hill country, while the challenging holes require strategic play at all times.

Onion Creek Club
