About Leander

Leander is located 27 miles north of Austin. Though it’s further from Austin than cities like Round Rock and Pflugerville, it offers a unique appeal all its own. Leander is known for its lively downtown area, small town charm, and authentic, rural Texas feel.

With a population of just over 38,000 people, Leander is one of Texas’s larger cities, but still small in comparison to other popular suburbs like Round Rock and Cedar Park. The city is frequently named one of the top ten safest in Texas and has a lower than average cost of living and a low unemployment rate. Three key attributes that appeal to people in all walks of life, but especially families - and families love Leander. There are over 180 acres of beautiful city parks to enjoy and fun local attractions to keep both kids and adults entertained.

The average commute is only 30-minutes, and you can get anywhere you need to go fairly quickly with US-183 providing a central line through town. If you’re not much for driving, Monday through Friday you can opt to take the MetroRail instead, it goes all the way to downtown Austin!
